Books That Nourish the Mind, Heart & Soul

"Root yourselves in Him, build your lives on Him, and become strong in your faith."Colossians 2:7

There are seasons in life when we need more than entertainment.

We need truth.

We need wisdom.

We need quiet moments with God that remind us who we are and where our hope comes from.

One of my favorite ways to slow down is by creating a peaceful morning routine with a warm cup of coffee, my Bible, a devotional, and a book that encourages personal growth. These moments have become sacred—a chance to step away from the noise and draw closer to God.

Today I'm sharing a few of the books and resources that have encouraged me on my journey of faith, healing, and intentional living.

Growing Spiritually Through God's Word

The Bible will always be the foundation of my reading life.

While I enjoy romance novels and personal-growth books, nothing compares to spending time in Scripture. It's where I find peace, direction, wisdom, and the reminder that God's grace is new every morning.

One practice that has transformed my quiet time is creating a Loaded Bible.

If you're new to the idea, a Loaded Bible is a personalized study Bible filled with color-coded highlights, tabs, handwritten notes, prayers, maps, timelines, devotional inserts, journaling pages, and meaningful keepsakes that help you engage deeply with God's Word.

Every page becomes a testimony of what God has been teaching you.

Personal Growth Books I Loved

The Mountain Is You — Brianna Wiest ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book challenged me to examine the habits, fears, and thought patterns that can quietly hold us back.

One of the biggest lessons I took away is that lasting growth begins with honest self-reflection. While it isn't a Christian book, many of its themes—renewal, perseverance, and transformation—pair beautifully with time spent in prayer and Scripture.

This Is How You Heal — Brianna Wiest ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Healing is rarely quick or easy.

This book reminded me that growth often happens in small, faithful steps. It encouraged me to embrace the process rather than rush it, and it paired beautifully with reflecting on God's promises during difficult seasons.

Christian Book Recommendation:

Find Your Brave BY: HOLLY WAGNER

One of my favorite reminders from this book is that courage doesn't mean living without fear—it means trusting God enough to take the next faithful step.

Whether you're facing uncertainty, beginning something new, or simply learning to trust God's timing, this book offers encouragement to keep moving forward with confidence rooted in Christ.

Daily Devotionals I Love:

There's something comforting about beginning each morning with a short devotional before opening my Bible.

A few of my favorite types of devotionals include:

  • Morning devotionals for women

  • Scripture-based encouragement

  • Gratitude journals

  • Prayer journals

  • Devotionals centered on God's promises

  • Seasonal devotionals

  • Quiet-time companions

Even five or ten minutes spent with the Lord can completely change the direction of your day.

Bible Journaling & Loaded Bible Essentials:

Bible journaling has become one of my favorite forms of worship.

It's not about creating perfect pages—it's about slowing down long enough to truly reflect on God's Word.

Some of my favorite supplies include:

  • Neutral highlighters

  • Fine-tip Bible pens

  • Mild liner markers

  • Transparent sticky notes

  • Washi tape

  • Floral stickers

  • Bible tabs

  • Prayer cards

  • Journaling notebooks

  • Elegant stationery

  • Bookmarks

  • Printable Scripture cards

Your Bible doesn't have to look like anyone else's.

Every note, highlight, and prayer tells the story of your walk with Christ.

My Prayer for This Community

My hope is that Coastal Cowgirl – Rooted in Faith becomes more than a place to discover great books.

I pray it becomes a place where women feel encouraged to slow down, spend time with Jesus, care for their minds and bodies, and embrace the beautiful story God is writing in their lives.

Whether you're here for Bible study inspiration, cozy book recommendations, wellness encouragement, or simply a peaceful place to rest for a while, I'm so grateful you're here.

Let's continue growing together—one page, one prayer, and one day at a time.

Quote of the Week:

"When your heart is rooted in God's truth, every season becomes an opportunity to grow in grace."

With faith,

Paige
